Jonathan Edward Mills
, affectionately known as "Mookie", was loved by all who knew him. He was born on Monday, February 10, 1964 to Rita Dianne Trepiccione and Ernest Green. He departed this life suddenly at the age of 54 on Saturday, March 17, 2018 (St. Patrick's Day) in Morris Plains, NJ. He was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, God-father and friend to many.
Jonathan's mother Dianne passed away in 1969 in which his loving grandmother in Bernardsville, NJ then raised him. She later passed away when Jonathan was in high school. He attended Bernards High and later graduated from Somerset County Vocational and Technical School in 1986. All who knew him embraced his warm and fun-loving spirit and knew how much he loved to party!
"Mookie" was an amazing and multi-faceted guy who enjoyed nature and being outdoors. He loved traveling, learning, reading, laughing, working with his hands, painting, tinkering, discovering, helping others, spending time with friends, cooking gourmet meals, eating, playing softball and watching a wide variety of television shows and movies. He was a true lover of all genres and styles of music; especially Hip Hop and the Grateful Dead. He knew the words to almost every song and would always do silly moves that would make those around him fill with laughter. "Mookie" also loved Choppers & fast cars. Most importantly, he absolutely loved and adored the NY JETS and the NJ Devils!!!
Jonathan loved his family and friends and loved the Lord. He was baptized and became a member of the Morristown Church of Christ when he was in his forties; a church in which his step-grandfather Jackson Simmons (Waxin' Jackson) of Bernardsville, NJ helped to establish in the early 1940's.
No matter Jonathan's altitude in life, he LOVED life and marched to the beat of his own drum.
Jonathan was a kind and humble man who totally adored his sister, Jacquelyn (John) Lake and her children Olivia (11) and Xavier (7). Jonathan leaves to cherish his mother (Andora Hale, Morristown), step-father (Stuart Hale, Morristown) his step-brother (Sean Hale, Charlotte,NC), his step-nephew's (Ze'chari Kelly-Hale, Parlin, NJ & Kwyliq Wise-Hale, Columbia, SC), his God-son (Julius Hintenach, Dover,NJ) and a host of close family and friends including Kevin Chapman (Peapack), Gus Day (Bernardsville), Guy Treppiccione (Basking Ridge), Kirsten Dugan (Bernardsville), Francesca (Checca) DeCicco, Mia Tolliver (Morristown), Bill (Basking Ridge), Sandy Conklin (Bernardsville) and Carolyn Bottiglione-Wright (Bernardsville).
Jonathan is pre-deceased by his brother Everett "Rahmad" E. Green (February 25, 1964-March 14, 2005).
