Katherine M. Litkey
, 88 a long-time resident of Madison and Summit NJ, died Friday, December 22nd at Troy Hills Center in Parsippany, N.J. where she had resided for the past seven years.
Born in Mako, Hungary, Katherine fled the communist crackdown after the attempted student revolution in 1956. She, her husband, Laszlo, and their daughter, Judy, escaped into Austria and were flown to the United States as part of Operation Safe - Haven Two, landing at McGuire Air Force Base in NJ.
Katherine lived over the years in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Trenton NJ, Summit NJ and finally in Madison NJ where she resided until 2010. She was a homemaker and a real estate agent for over 20 years with Weichert, Coldwell Banker and earning a brokers license during her career.
Katherine enjoyed volunteering at a soup kitchen, entertaining, gardening, and socializing.
She is survived by her brother Miklos Fabian, of Orangeville NY. & her Nephew Dirk Fabian of Bellingham WA. Three children; Judy K. Litkey-Noel and Peter J. Litkey both of Basking Ridge, as well as Cynthia A. Litkey - Abney of Bloomfield NJ. She has three grandchildren, Jenny N. Litkey, Drew Abney & Cole Abney all whom live in New Jersey.
