On September 15, 2017, Larry Towns
went to join the lord. He was born in Morristown, NJ on June 22, 1951 to Edith Towns.
Larry was a mechanic by trade and worked for the Township of Rockaway for over 15 years in facilities management.
He served in the US Army and National Guard and was stationed in Germany as a Military Policeman.
He raised two wonderful children, Jason Towns and Erica Adams in Rockaway, NJ.
He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and gave his service there as a member of the Music Ministry, Transportation Ministry, Men’s Fellowship as well as a Sunday school teacher. Larry was chosen as “Man of the Year” at Calvary Baptist Church. His faith was shown by the good deeds that he did for his family and friends. Larry was passionate about renovating his childhood home, fishing, food, fixing cars and riding his motorcycle which he affectionately called “Comanche”. He always had a belief in a strong work ethic.
There was nothing he could not do once he put his mind and his hands to it. Once he found out how something worked he would then make it better whether it was mechanical, electrical, etc.
He was an integral part of the community and leaves to cherish his memory to his two children, Jason Towns and Erica Adams, grandchildren Janelle Towns and Olivia Adams, brother George Towns, nephew Aaron Towns, niece Bree Towns and a host of other relatives and friends. Larry was predeceased by his sister Renona (Towns) Tyler and mother Edith Towns. If we all had the strength and faith as Larry did then we too shall see our reward in heaven.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
